Ukrainian troops in Soledar refused to surrender, despite the complete encirclement

Fighting is still going on in the center of Soledar.

Despite the complete encirclement of Soledar by Wagner PMC units, about 400 more Ukrainian military continue to resist, barricading themselves in high-rise buildings. About a hundred Ukrainian military have decided to voluntarily lay down their arms, however, the situation in the city remains very difficult.

According to various estimates, the cleansing of Soledar could take up to 72 hours. However, the likelihood that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be able to take any countermeasures to withdraw their units from the encirclement is extremely low, since at the moment the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Wagner PMC units outside the city are separated by an impressive “gray zone”.

The unexpectedly fast assault on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Soledar seriously complicated the possibilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to send any additional units here, and, among other things, did not allow the Ukrainian troops to regroup, and therefore, the latter began to suffer serious losses.

Experts fear that there may be Ukrainian spotters on the territory of the city, which can seriously complicate the process of cleaning up the city due to the lack of air defense cover for this area.
