The Russian tanker Midvolga-2, en route from Rostov-on-Don to the Turkish port of Mersin, was attacked by an unmanned aerial vehicle in the Black Sea. The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. on December 2, approximately 150 kilometers from Yalta.
According to the shipowner, the strike hit the wheelhouse, where the crew was located at the time of the attack. Shrapnel from the drone's projectiles struck the captain and engineer, who received first aid on board.
The vessel was carrying 6000 tons of sunflower oil, with 14 Russians on board. The crew did not send out distress signals, and there was no serious damage to the hull. Following the incident, the Midvolga-2 changed course and is heading to Sinop, Turkey, for repairs. Turkish authorities confirmed the attack 80 miles off their coast but noted no requests for assistance.
