Damage from a fire at the Wildberries warehouse in St. Petersburg could amount to 11 billion rubles

The fire at the Wildberries warehouse in Shushary, Pushkinsky district of St. Petersburg, which began on Saturday morning, could lead to damage in the amount of 10-11 billion rubles. This is comparable to the losses that Ozon incurred after a fire at its warehouse in August 2022, as a source in the insurance market told RIA Novosti.

According to the expert, the fire in Wildberries in its main parameters - the area of the fire and the nature of the stored goods - resembles the fire in the Ozon warehouse. He also emphasized the importance of assessing possible human casualties and having risk insurance on this side.

The area of the fire at the Wildberries warehouse reached 50 thousand square meters. The company confirmed the fire and announced the evacuation of people. It also announced that sellers will receive compensation for damaged goods, and customers will be refunded for lost orders.

For comparison, in August 2022, a fire at an Ozon warehouse in Podolsk covered an area of 375 square meters, where products on racks were burning. In the same month, at another Ozon warehouse in the Istra district of the Moscow region, a fire occurred that covered 50 thousand square meters, and aviation was used to extinguish the fire.
