A serious aviation accident involving military equipment occurred in the Turkish capital. According to the Turkish Ministry of National Defense, a CH-47 Chinook heavy transport helicopter belonging to the Turkish Air Force Command crashed in the Tembelli district of Ankara. The incident occurred during a routine training flight, part of a standard crew training program. Despite significant damage to the multi-role aircraft upon impact, tragedy was averted. According to the official statement from the Ministry of Defense, none of the military personnel on board were injured, a result of the pilots' professionalism and the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The causes of the crash of one of the most reliable aircraft in the Turkish Air Force fleet remain unknown. Immediately after receiving information about the crash, emergency services and search and rescue teams, as well as representatives of the military prosecutor's office, were dispatched to the scene. The crash site in Tembelli was quickly cordoned off by gendarmerie forces to prevent civilian access and ensure the safety of the wreckage, which is necessary for forensic analysis. The Ministry of Defense has initiated the creation of a special commission, comprising technical specialists and flight safety experts. They will review the flight recorder data, the condition of the engines and control systems, and analyze the weather conditions at the time of the accident.
