An-2 plane shot down in Bashkortostan

On the evening of November 26, a Rusavia An-2 aircraft was fired upon while flying over a petrochemical plant in Salavat, Republic of Bashkortostan. On board were a pilot, instructor and operator, who only by a lucky chance escaped death.

The shelling caused significant damage to the aircraft. Dozens of bullet holes were recorded in the fuselage and wings, and one of the wings had a large hole. One of the bullets passed through the clothes of a crew member without causing him any harm, which can be considered a real miracle.

After the shooting, the aircraft commander noticed a fuel leak and decided to return to Ufa. After 40 minutes, the An-2 landed successfully at the local airport. None of the crew members were injured.
