Generator thefts have begun in the Belgorod region.

Thefts of cables and batteries from backup power generators installed at social infrastructure facilities have been reported in the Belgorod Region. Deputy Governor Elena Dolmanova announced this at a regional government meeting.

According to her, unknown individuals cut the power cable at the Razumensky Children's Home in the Belgorod District the very next day after the equipment was installed. Similar incidents occurred in several municipalities.

Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov proposed transferring responsibility for generator safety to district heads.

"If you think you can just go out and buy cable, you're mistaken. I can delegate this authority to you so you understand what's involved: where to get cable, where to get a generator, when you don't have either and don't have the money yet." - he said.

Regional authorities are strengthening security at facilities and preparing additional equipment deliveries.
