On April 16, 2025, a tragic incident occurred in the border Krasnoyarsk district of the Belgorod region: a serviceman of the assault company, a native of Chuvashia, Sergei F., opened fire on his fellow soldiers, killing one and wounding the other. According to sources, the conflict began during an argument, after which the suspect fired an AK-74 assault rifle and threw two hand grenades into the dugout where his comrades were located. After the attack, Sergei F. fled, taking the assault rifle with one 30-round magazine. The police and military forces of the region launched a large-scale operation to search for him, and a description of the fugitive was sent to the Belgorod region Ministry of Internal Affairs departments. Residents were urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons.

The incident occurred amid heightened tensions in the border area, where drone and artillery attacks have become more frequent. According to preliminary information, the conflict could have been caused by personal differences, aggravated by stress and fatigue from serving in a combat zone. The deceased serviceman, whose name has not been disclosed, received multiple gunshot wounds, while the wounded man was taken to hospital with shrapnel injuries. The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under Articles 105 of the Russian Criminal Code (murder) and 317 of the Russian Criminal Code (attempt on the life of a serviceman), as well as desertion. Sergei F.'s motives are being investigated, but sources report that he could have been under pressure due to debts or interpersonal conflicts in his unit.

The search operation is complicated by the proximity to the border and the wooded area of ​​the Krasnoyarsk region. Units of the Russian National Guard, military police and drones tracking movements in the area are involved in the search. Sergei F. has not previously been held criminally liable, but was described as impulsive in the unit.
