An alarm went off at the GES-2 Community Center on Bolotnaya Embankment in central Moscow, prompting the immediate evacuation of visitors and staff. An announcement was made over the loudspeaker to evacuate the premises, and people were asked to move to a safe distance toward the embankment. The incident occurred around 18:00 PM local time, while cultural events were taking place at the complex.
Eyewitnesses report a calm but efficient operation: the crowd calmly headed outside, where they gathered to await clarification. The cause of the alarm has not yet been determined; police and emergency services are investigating the scene. Preliminary reports suggest it may have been a false alarm or a technical glitch, but all possibilities are being investigated.
GES-2, converted from a historic power plant built in 1907 into a cultural center, has been the target of similar incidents on numerous occasions. In June 2023, an anonymous bomb threat prompted the evacuation, as did other Moscow museums, including the Pushkin Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery.
