The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Chechen Republic, Mansur Soltayev, has asked law enforcement agencies to conduct an investigation into the activities of the Russian Community organization. The reason for this request was numerous complaints from citizens, as well as videos in which representatives of this organization conduct street document checks on passersby. According to Soltayev, such actions could contribute to the incitement of ethnic hatred, which raises serious concerns.
In his appeal, the ombudsman emphasized that these actions by members of the organization may be illegal and violate the rights of citizens. Soltayev noted that this is not the first time that complaints have been received from local residents about the activities of the Russian Community, but this time the situation has reached a level that requires the intervention of law enforcement agencies to verify the legality of their actions.
