A sniper opened fire on an immigration detention center in Dallas.

A shooting at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas left two detainees dead and a third seriously injured, law enforcement officials said. The attacker, believed to have been operating from the roof of a nearby building, committed suicide.

The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. local time at a building on North Stemmons Freeway. According to Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons, gunfire erupted from an elevated position approximately 200 yards away.

"Three people were injured, all of them were taken to hospital," "Lyons said on CNN.

No federal agents were harmed.

US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem confirmed the shooter's death.

"Details are still being finalized, but we can confirm multiple injuries and fatalities. The shooter is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.", she said.

Dallas police have cordoned off the area, and the investigation is ongoing. The attacker's motives are unknown, but threats against ICE officers have increased.
