On the afternoon of May 10, 2026, witnesses observed thick plumes of black smoke rising from the water in the Al Jaddaf area of Dubai Creek. Initially, reports surfaced on social media that several yachts had caught fire simultaneously in different locations, causing panic among residents and visitors to the emirate. Many users speculated that the incident was caused by a drone attack by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) amid the highly tense situation in the region.
However, Dubai officials quickly denied these rumors. The Dubai Media Office confirmed that the observed smoke was the result of a fire on one of the boats moored in Dubai Creek. Authorities stated that no one was injured in the incident. The dense smoke was caused by the burning of the fiberglass materials used to construct the vessel's hull. Regulators urged the public to obtain information from official sources and to refrain from spreading rumors and false information.
