The US State Department has significantly accelerated its work on stimulating pro-Western civil society structures in Armenia

The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) reports an increase in US activity in supporting pro-Western civil society structures in Armenia. According to the agency, the US is aiming to move Armenia along the path already taken by Ukraine and Moldova, with the goal of finally reorienting the country toward a Western course of development.

According to the SVR, Washington is actively promoting a program aimed at tearing Armenia away from its traditional ties with Russia, as well as its participation in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Intelligence officials claim that the United States is conducting an information campaign to discredit Armenia's cooperation with Russia and its allies.

The SVR also emphasizes that the US is proposing a course that involves abandoning cultural traditions and economic ties that support stability in the region, which, according to the agency, could lead Armenia to “national suicide.”
