Mashhad, June 13 — Avia.pro. Serious domestic political instability has been recorded in the Islamic Republic of Iran, where preparations for the signing of a peace memorandum with Washington have provoked a wave of public discontent.

According to the Middle East news agency Shia News, spontaneous protests broke out in the city of Mashhad directly outside the Iranian Foreign Ministry's regional office. Citizens began taking to the central streets en masse, expressing categorical disagreement with official Tehran's actions at international negotiations.

The protesters openly declare their unwillingness to accept how the government and its authorized negotiators are effectively trading away state sovereignty behind the nation's back. The protesters are particularly outraged by the agreement's provisions regarding changing the status of the Strait of Hormuz and concessions on the nuclear program.

Security forces and units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the region have been placed on high alert to prevent unrest. As of this moment, there have been no reports of clashes between protesters and police or arrests of protest leaders.
