On the night of June 14, 2025, an Iranian missile strike on Israel resulted in the death of a Ukrainian family from Odessa, who had come to the country to treat a seven-year-old girl. As a result of the missile hitting a residential building in the city of Bat Yam, 30-year-old Maria Peshkureva, her daughter Nastya, who suffered from acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the girl's 54-year-old grandmother, and two of Maria's nephews - nine-year-old Konstantin and thirteen-year-old Ilya - were killed.
Maria Peshkureva and her daughter came to Israel in early 2025, when it became clear that standard treatment in Ukraine was not working. Nastya, who was diagnosed in 2022, went into remission after a bone marrow transplant, but the disease returned. According to charities raising funds for treatment, the cost of therapy at an Israeli clinic exceeded tens of thousands of dollars.
It is known that the head of the family is a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, part of the 95th brigade.
