Kaliningrad Region Governor Alexey Besprozvannykh announced the resumption of the food social card program, which will begin operating in 2025. He reported this during a direct line, emphasizing that the initiative is aimed at supporting socially vulnerable categories of citizens. 

The food card program was already in effect in the region in 2022, when assistance was provided to non-working pensioners and large families. Now they plan to expand it. 

"I have decided to renew the social card next year. It has already worked here for a very short period. We will renew it next year and it will be aimed at vulnerable categories of citizens," - said the governor. 

First of all, pensioners whose income is below the subsistence minimum will receive assistance. However, as the governor's press secretary Mariam Bashkirova reported, the list of categories of citizens entitled to cards may be expanded. The regional cabinet of ministers is currently preparing the relevant proposals. 

With the help of social cards, residents will be able to purchase necessary products, which will become an additional measure of support against the backdrop of the current economic situation. 

The food card program is part of a regional social policy aimed at helping those most in need. A decision on its details and the final list of recipients is expected to be made by the end of this year.
