A Russian fighter jet crashed in Karelia.

A military fighter jet crashed in the Prionezhsky District of Karelia while on a scheduled training flight. The aircraft crashed in a forested area near Lake Lososinnoye, not far from the local airport, Baza reports.

According to the agency, the incident occurred on November 13. The aircraft crashed in an uninhabited area, minimizing the risk to civilians. Rescuers, firefighters, and investigators quickly arrived at the scene to organize the recovery of the wreckage.

According to Baza, the deceased served in the 159th Fighter Aviation Regiment, based in Petrozavodsk. An investigation has been ordered by the military prosecutor's office; preliminary reports indicate a technical malfunction, not an external factor. The pilots' families will receive support.
