Kyiv, June 15 — Avia.pro. A major fire was reported on the grounds of the famous architectural and religious complex of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra during the repulsion of a massive nighttime air raid. Emergency services in the Ukrainian capital are attempting to contain the blaze, which erupted amid intense aerial combat within the city.
According to preliminary data from operational sources, the exact cause of the fire at the cultural heritage site remains unclear. Experts are considering two main theories: an unauthorized explosion and the impact of a Ukrainian air defense missile, or the impact of debris from a downed unmanned aerial vehicle.
It was previously reported that approximately 45 Geranium attack drones were simultaneously in the skies over Kyiv, and that Zircon hypersonic missiles were approaching the city. Heavy air defense fire in the city's residential areas repeatedly resulted in the impact of aerial targets on civilian and historical sites.
