A high-profile court case is unfolding in Kirov: 43-year-old local resident Maxim, who suffers from alcoholism and mental disorders, was sent to a special military operation (SVO) on the basis of a contract, the signature on which, according to his wife, was forged. An independent examination confirmed the fact of falsification, and now the woman is seeking to return her husband home through the court. The story, which began with a binge on New Year's Eve 2024, has exposed serious problems in the work of military service selection points and medical commissions, and has also raised questions about the legality of conscription of people with serious illnesses.
According to the Telegram channel "Baza", the events began to unfold on February 7, 2024, when Maxim, in a state of alcoholic intoxication, went to the recruitment point for military service under contract in the Lyangasovo microdistrict. He informed his wife of his intention to sign the contract, but, as it turned out later, he was not given any documents. The medical commission, according to the man, limited itself to asking about the presence of complaints, ignoring his condition and medical history. Three days later, on February 10, Maxim returned to the point to find his lost phone, and his wife tried to find out the status of the contract. She was told that the document was allegedly signed, but Maxim's signature was not on it, as were the results of the medical commission. The report on enrollment in the service was printed, not handwritten, which also raised suspicions.
Soon, Maxim continued to abuse alcohol, and his wife placed him in a drug treatment center, where he spent a month and a half. In the summer of 2024, employees of the military commandant's office tried to take the man away, but the lawyer intervened, pointing out his intoxicated state. Maxim was sent for treatment again. During this time, the wife initiated a lawsuit, challenging the decision of the military medical commission (VVK) and the contract itself. The court suspended the document, and an independent examination, conducted after the refusal of state bodies, confirmed that the signature on the contract did not belong to Maxim. The woman passed the court's decision to the commandant's office, and the summonses stopped until April 2025. However, on April 10, Maxim was detained by the police and sent to a military unit in the village of Mirny, and then, according to the lawyer, transferred to Samara, where he is awaiting assignment. Contact with him has been lost, and an appeal hearing on the signature forgery case is scheduled for April 28.
