Recent footage of 10 drones lighting up the skies of China has caused a stir on social media, including comments from Elon Musk, who called the spectacle “spectacular.” In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Musk expressed his awe at the sight. The footage showed a nighttime show where thousands of drones lit up the sky with bright lights, reminiscent of a massive fireworks display.
The video was posted by Mario Nawfal, a well-known investor and social media personality with over 1,6 million followers. In his post, he noted:
"China has outdone itself again. After setting a world record with 8 drones in a light show, it is now a 000 drone show."
Local authorities confirmed that the drones created figures ranging from a “bird spreading its wings” to people running. The show also set two Guinness World Records: “most drones controlled by a single computer taking off simultaneously” and “most aerial figures made up of drones.”
The official statement also emphasized that such drone shows have become an important part of Shenzhen's tourism industry.
"More and more companies are entering the low-altitude tourism market, developing a system that includes drone shows, low-altitude tours, tourist flights and aerial photography. These events attract tourists from all over the world.", - the message says.
However, not all social media users shared the excitement. Some expressed concerns about the potential military use of drones. One commenter noted:
"It's scary when you think about the future of drone warfare."
Another added:
"Imagine drones like this, loaded with explosives, raining down on your city. It seems inevitable and will be a serious problem in the future."
