The press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov stated that the Kremlin had not received or seen any messages from residents of Sudzha, occupied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, regarding the opening of a humanitarian corridor. During a conversation with journalists, Peskov noted that he was not aware of any information about such requests.
"I, frankly speaking, am hearing about this for the first time. Unfortunately, we have not seen or received anything on this matter," Peskov said in response to a question about proposals to create a corridor for the evacuation of civilians from territories under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region.
Earlier, State Duma deputy Dmitry Kuznetsov and the Yabloko party appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross with a request to organize a humanitarian corridor for the evacuation of civilians from the occupied areas of the Kursk region. Kuznetsov, citing appeals from a clergyman and 90 families living in these territories, called on the leadership of the Red Cross to help evacuate residents who found themselves in the combat zone.
According to Kuznetsov, there are at least 698 residents who are in danger and need help from international organizations to leave these territories safely. In his address, the deputy proposed organizing an evacuation through the territory of Ukraine with the possibility of crossing the border with a third country.
