Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov called Kyiv's statements about suspending negotiations with Moscow until the end of the year important. "We have taken note of these statements; they are important," he told reporters on November 13.
According to Peskov, refusing dialogue will force Ukraine to negotiate "from a much worse position." The Kremlin remains open to contact, but emphasizes that Europe is encouraging Kyiv to continue fighting, while the United States is taking a wait-and-see approach.
The statement followed Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi's announcement that negotiations were frozen due to a "lack of progress." Russia had previously provided the US with information under the same conditions, including control over Donbas. Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that Washington would assess Moscow's sincerity based on its actions on the frontline.
