In Losinoo-Petrovsky, two people were blown up by a grenade

In the Moscow region town of Losino-Petrovsky, on the evening of May 9, 2025, a tragic incident occurred that claimed the lives of two people. According to preliminary data, the cause was the explosion of a grenade, which was presumably brought by a participant in a special military operation (SVO). Two more were injured, which caused a wide public outcry and drew attention to the problem of handling ammunition in the civilian environment.

The incident occurred in a residential building on Gorky Street. A group of two men and their wives had gathered to celebrate Victory Day. One of the men, 46-year-old Sergei K., who presumably had experience in the SVO, pulled out a grenade during the party. According to investigators, the men went out onto the landing to smoke, where the explosion occurred. Sergei K. and his 34-year-old acquaintance Sergei P. died on the spot. Their wives were slightly injured, but refused hospitalization, receiving medical care on the spot.

The Investigative Committee of Russia for the Moscow Region has opened a criminal case under the article on illegal trafficking of explosives and careless handling of weapons resulting in death. Experts are establishing the origin of the grenade, presumably a combat one, and the circumstances under which it ended up in the hands of a civilian.
