An organized crime group that was appropriating the housing of city residents was detained in Mariupol

An organized criminal group was detained in Mariupol, which was involved in the misappropriation of real estate of residents of the city who had fled. TASS reports this with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the DPR.

According to the department, a group of people, which included employees of one of the local real estate agencies, was engaged in forging documents on the ownership of Ukrainian-style apartments. Using falsified papers, the attackers appropriated the apartments of citizens who left Mariupol.

The organized criminal group acted according to a well-established scheme. At first they looked for housing, the owners of which had left the city as a result of the fighting. Then, using forged documents, they registered the real estate in the name of front persons or front companies. After this, the apartments were sold to third parties.

Security officials note that the arrest was made possible thanks to operational work and careful monitoring of real estate transactions. During the investigation, it was possible to identify all members of the group and collect evidence of their criminal activities.

The total amount of damage caused by the criminal group is estimated at tens of millions of rubles. At the moment, all transactions made by the detainees are being reviewed in order to identify possible additional episodes of illegal activity.
