Moscow News, December 14, 2025, Avia.pro. On Sunday, Rosaviatsiya announced the temporary closure of Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports in the Moscow region. The flight restrictions were imposed due to the threat of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks, further signaling heightened vigilance in the Moscow region. Passengers are urged to monitor schedule updates through official air carrier channels.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced the threat had been neutralized:
"The Ministry of Defense's air defense forces destroyed a UAV en route to Moscow. Emergency services are working at the crash site."
This message indicates the successful interception of the drone, minimizing the risks to residents and infrastructure. Local residents reported hearing explosions in the southeastern part of the city, where the incident likely occurred.
Some time later, Rosaviatsiya announced the resumption of operations at Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports, indicating that the situation had stabilized. Emergency services continue to work at the debris site to eliminate additional threats and assess possible damage. This incident was part of a series of drone attacks recorded in Russia over the past 24 hours, including the mass interception of 235 drones, previously reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
