Moscow's Anti-Terrorism Commission has decided to ban the publication of photos and videos related to the aftermath of terrorist attacks and drone strikes in the capital. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced this on his Telegram channel.
According to the new rules, government agencies, their subordinate institutions, and media outlets are prohibited from disseminating any information about incidents until official notifications are received from the Russian Ministry of Defense and until information is published on the official websites of the Moscow mayor and government.
The measure was taken to prevent the dissemination of false information (fakes), as well as to preserve the lives and health of citizens and prevent attempts to destabilize the situation.
However, the ban does not apply to calls to law enforcement agencies and emergency services, unless they are of a public nature. Citizens can also continue to report incidents by calling 112.
This decision was made amid regular drone attacks on Moscow and the Moscow region. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 286 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Russian regions last night alone, several of them on approach to the capital. Recently, reports of air defense activity and debris falls in the Moscow region have been coming in almost daily.
