From October 14, the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) will begin large-scale air exercises codenamed Steadfast Noon, aimed at practicing the use of nuclear weapons. This was announced by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, emphasizing that the exercises will include the participation of dozens of aircraft from various NATO member states, including strategic bombers, fighters and tankers. The main goal of the maneuvers will be to simulate strikes with tactical nuclear weapons.
Steadfast Noon is an annual exercise, and this year it focuses on practicing actions in the event of a nuclear threat from Russia. In connection with the growing tensions in Europe against the backdrop of the conflict in Ukraine and concerns about the possible use of nuclear weapons, these exercises are of particular importance. The maneuvers are planned to test the readiness of NATO's nuclear arsenal and the alliance's ability to respond in a coordinated manner to any threats.
The training events, which will be held over several days, are aimed at increasing the combat readiness of troops and testing the effectiveness of strategic interaction between allies.
