NATO believes that Ukraine should not be accepted into the North Atlantic bloc

NATO has not reached an agreement on Ukraine's integration into the alliance.

The discussion on Ukraine's accession to NATO has been going on for more than a year. However, according to the Italian news agency ANSA, the member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance still cannot agree on a specific time frame for the integration of Kyiv.

The opinions of the countries of the alliance differ. Some member countries insist on granting Ukraine the status of a NATO member already during the next summit, which is scheduled to be held on July 11-12 in Vilnius. However, other countries express the opposite position, pointing to the serious risks of such a decision in the context of the unresolved conflict between Ukraine and Russia. The list of countries that support and oppose Ukraine's accession to NATO has not been specified, although the positions of many of them have long been known.

It should be noted that NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoane previously announced his intention to hold an additional discussion of this issue in late May - early June in Oslo.

As for the summit in Vilnius, then, most likely, it will decide on the integration of Sweden. It is noted that Sweden is ready to provide Ukraine with its JAS 39 Gripen light multifunctional fighters, which may be an additional argument in favor of Ukraine's participation in the alliance.
