On the night of May 16, 2026, a series of explosions rocked the city of Nevinnomyssk in Stavropol Krai. According to local residents and Telegram monitoring channels, at around 2:30 a.m. local time, unmanned aerial vehicles attempted to attack the Nevinnomyssk Azot chemical plant. Video footage posted on social media shows a massive glow and a thick column of smoke rising above the industrial zone.

Russian authorities have not yet officially commented on the extent of the damage to the plant itself. Stavropol Krai Governor Vladimir Vladimirov confirmed the repelling of a drone attack near Nevinnomyssk, but stated that "there are no casualties or damage on the ground." However, a drone alert remains in effect in the region.

Nevinnomyssk Azot is the largest chemical plant in southern Russia, part of the EuroChem holding company. The plant produces ammonia, ammonium nitrate, urea, acetic acid, and other substances.
