In Novokuznetsk, a mother left her baby on a plane

A scandal erupted in Novokuznetsk after a 26-year-old passenger on a flight from Moscow left her newborn baby on board the plane to collect her luggage. The incident, which occurred on May 6, 2025, attracted the attention of law enforcement agencies and the public, raising questions about the safety of children and the responsibility of parents on public transport. The woman, who introduced herself as Madina, explained her actions by inexperience and confusion, but her actions provoked a serious reaction from the authorities and the airline.

According to the Baza Telegram channel, after the plane landed at Novokuznetsk airport, flight attendants found a newborn baby on one of the seats, left along with several bags. All passengers had left the cabin by that time, and the discovery caused immediate alarm. The captain reported the incident to the police, and a squad arrived at the scene. It was soon possible to establish the identity of the mother - 26-year-old Madina, who was in the baggage claim area at that time. The woman explained that it was her first time flying on an airplane and, fearing difficulties with getting her things, decided to temporarily leave the baby on board, asking the flight attendant to look after him. However, it is reported that the flight attendant either did not understand the passenger's intentions or did not take the request seriously. After receiving the baggage and handing it over to her husband, Madina tried to return for the child, but she was denied access to the board in accordance with safety regulations.

The situation was resolved after the intervention of the Juvenile Affairs Unit (JAU). The police officers had an explanatory talk with Madina, pointing out the inadmissibility of such actions, and handed the child over to her.

The airline that operated the flight has not yet given any official comments, however, according to the source, an internal investigation into the actions of the crew has been launched.
