According to preliminary data, seven people went missing in Nova Kakhovka

On Tuesday, it became known about a series of strikes inflicted by Ukrainian troops on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, which led to the flooding of the coastal zone of Novaya Kakhovka. In connection with these circumstances, the city authorities are investigating the whereabouts of seven people, said the head of the administration of Nova Kakhovka, Vladimir Leontiev.

"Now we are finding out information about the missing, but, as we assume, these people were also evacuated from flood zones. This primarily applies to islands that no longer exist. Shepherds mainly lived in these places. By now, we know about seven people "- said the mayor of the city.

It is assumed that the shelling of the hydroelectric power station was carried out from the Alder multiple launch rocket system. Despite the fact that during the night the water level dropped by 350 millimeters, it is still high. In this regard, members of the operational headquarters on boats patrol the flooded areas, continuing to search for victims.

"The upper part of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station was destroyed as a result of shelling from the Kiev army. According to preliminary data, the blow was delivered from the Alder MLRS. The valves on the dam were demolished, but the dam itself, fortunately, remained intact"- stressed Vladimir Leontiev.

As a result of the collapse of the hydroelectric power plant, an uncontrolled discharge of water began, which forced the authorities to begin the process of evacuating residents from three districts of the city. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu expressed the opinion that the Ukrainian regime deliberately blew up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in order to weaken its positions in the Kherson direction and transfer troops to the offensive zone.
