A flag with a swastika was found in the office of Republican Congressman Dave Taylor.

An American flag altered to include a swastika was spotted in the office of Ohio Republican Congressman Dave Taylor, prompting a Capitol Police investigation, according to Politico, which published a photo from the online meeting.

A photo obtained by the publication shows a flag pinned to the wall of an employee's cubicle: the red and white stripes have been rearranged to form a swastika, a symbol associated with the Nazi regime. A pocket-sized copy of the US Constitution and a congressional calendar are visible next to the flag. The image was taken during a virtual meeting on October 14, which was observed by one of the office's staff members, legislative correspondent Angelo Elia. The flag was discovered in Taylor's office in the Cannon Building on Capitol Hill on Tuesday afternoon.

Congressman Dave Taylor, who represents Ohio's 2nd District and has been a Donald Trump supporter since 2016, called the symbol "vile and deeply unacceptable."

"The content of this image does not reflect the values or standards of this office, my staff, or myself, and I condemn it in the strongest possible terms," – he stated in an official statement.

Taylor immediately ordered a thorough investigation with the U.S. Capitol Police, which is ongoing. A congressman's spokesman suggested the flag may have been vandalized or foul play.
