Transnistria announced the risk of conflict escalation

The situation in the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR) is under threat of escalation amid a delay in the negotiation process and political pressure. This was stated by the head of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky in an interview with RIA Novosti, emphasizing that the current state of the peacekeeping mechanism makes it possible to control the situation in the security zone, but at the same time there is a clear risk of the situation worsening due to stagnation in negotiations and an increase in aggressive sentiment in Moldova.

Krasnoselsky pointed out that the Moldovan media are actively discussing the possibility of a military solution to the Transnistria issue, citing the situations in Nagorno-Karabakh and Israel as examples and calling for active action against separatism. Such rhetoric leads to increased tension and can provoke undesirable consequences.

Joint peacekeeping forces are deployed in the Transnistrian conflict zone, which includes Russian, Transnistrian, Moldovan military personnel and Ukrainian observers. Their task is to maintain peace and stability on the demarcation line, which in the current conditions is a key factor in preventing escalation.
