Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter shot down near Dimitrov

A Russian Aerospace Forces fighter shot down a Ukrainian military helicopter near Dimitrov.

The combat rotorcraft was used to strike with unguided aircraft missiles. However, during the flight, she rose to a height above the allowable one and was detected by the radar. After some time, the duty fighter of the Russian Aerospace Forces headed to the area and successfully hit the aircraft, firing a cruise missile at it.

"Fighter aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces in the area of the settlement of Dimitrov of the Donetsk People's Republic shot down a Mi-8 helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force", - said in the official message of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

It is still unknown how many people were on board the Ukrainian helicopter, however, the aircraft tried to disrupt the assault by Russian troops on the settlement of Avdiivka, where fighting is currently underway.

According to preliminary data, the helicopter is one of the combat vehicles previously transferred to Ukraine by the US military. These helicopters were intended for the Armed Forces of Afghanistan, however, after the Taliban terrorists came to power (a terrorist movement banned on the territory of the Russian Federation - ed.), the helicopters went to Ukraine.
