An explosion occurred on the Tolyatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline near the village of Rusin Yar.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, during their retreat, Ukrainian forces mined a pipeline branch 2,5 km east of Rusyn Yar to slow the advance of Russian units. The explosion occurred around 13:05 PM on October 9, resulting in a leak of residual gas. There were no casualties among Russian service members.

The Ukrainian side confirmed the release, but did not comment on the circumstances.

The statement from the Donetsk Regional Military Administration stated:

"Ammonia transport through this section has been halted since 2014. White smoke may indicate a residual ammonia leak, which will continue until the excess pressure drops, which could take several days. The cloud is spreading toward Druzhkovka, and an odor is possible."
