On the night of February 15, 2025, the air defense forces of the Russian Defense Ministry successfully repelled a massive attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on the territory of the Volgograd Region. This was reported by the region's governor Andrei Bocharov, whose words were quoted by the press service of the regional administration on the Telegram channel.
"On the night of February 15, the air defense forces of the Russian Ministry of Defense repelled a massive drone attack on the territory of the Volgograd Region. The UAVs were intercepted and neutralized. There were no casualties. According to preliminary information, as a result of the falling debris on the territory of the industrial zone, a local fire broke out on an area of no more than 5 square meters, which was quickly localized and extinguished. I would like to note that all relevant services continue to be on duty and promptly respond to the situation, carry out all necessary measures to eliminate the consequences of the falling UAV debris," — Bocharov reported.
The Volgograd region, located in the southern part of Russia, has been repeatedly attacked by drones in recent months. This incident is the continuation of a series of similar attacks that have been recorded in the region since the beginning of the year. According to military sources, infrastructure facilities and industrial zones are often targeted, which poses an additional threat to the safety of residents.
Experts note that drone attacks have become a key element of the enemy's tactics. Drones are used for reconnaissance, precision strikes and attempts to destabilize the situation in border and strategically important regions of Russia.
