Russia is developing the TOS-3 "Dragon" flamethrower system

The Russian plant "Omsktransmash" has patented a new development under the symbol TOS-3 "Dragon", which is a heavy flamethrower system created on the basis of the TOS-1 "Solntsepek" chassis and TOS-2 "Tosochka" launchers. According to Defense Express, so far the development has only been formalized as a trademark with a schematic image, but it is already attracting attention with its conceptual novelty and potential capabilities.

The main objective of the new development is to solve the problem of the limited firing range of the TOS-1 Solntsepek, which, as combat practice has shown, ranges from 6 to 10 kilometers. This forced Russian vehicles to approach the range of Ukrainian strike UAVs, which significantly reduced their combat effectiveness. In contrast, the TOS-2 Tosochka has an increased firing range from 15 to 24 kilometers, which allows it to operate beyond the reach of enemy drones.

It is not yet known how long it will take for the TOS-3 Dragon project to move from the conceptual stage to actual production.
