Russian law enforcement agencies are already preparing an international tribunal similar to the Nuremberg Trials to try Ukrainian neo-Nazis accused of serious crimes, former Russian Prime Minister and Chairman of the Russian Lawyers' Association Sergei Stepashin told TASS.
He emphasized that the work is being carried out in connection with obvious violations recorded in particular in the Kursk region, where the actions of the perpetrators are classified as murder and sadistic abuse.
"The crimes are evident," - Stepashin noted.
In his opinion, it is premature to discuss the location of such a trial.
"Let's finish the special operation first, then we'll think about it.", - said the former prime minister.
Recalling the historical precedent, Stepashin recalled that the Nuremberg Tribunal was the first international war crimes trial. It was held from November 20, 1945, to October 1, 1946, in Nuremberg, Germany, under the auspices of the USSR, the USA, Great Britain, and France. Twenty-four senior Nazi leaders were brought to justice for crimes against peace, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, including genocide and the Holocaust. Twelve defendants were sentenced to death, seven were given prison terms, and three were acquitted. The trial introduced into international law the principle of individual responsibility of leaders, regardless of orders.
