Russia will resume production of A-50 AWACS aircraft

An important statement was made by the head of Rostec, Sergei Chemezov, announcing the resumption of production of the A-50 long-range radar detection and control aircraft (AWACS). This news will be a significant event not only for the Russian Armed Forces, but also for the international market for military aircraft.

The A-50 AWACS aircraft serving in the Russian Air Force have not been produced new to date; only modernization of existing copies was carried out to the A-50U level. These works are carried out at the facilities of TANTK named after. G. M. Beriev in Taganrog, which emphasizes the importance of continuing the traditions of high-quality aircraft construction.

The return to production of these strategically important aircraft underscores their high demand both domestically and abroad. The A-50 is capable of detecting and tracking air and surface targets, controlling combat operations of fighter aircraft and strike aircraft, providing a significant advantage on the battlefield.

Chemezov emphasized that the A-50 is not only needed by the Russian army, but is also in great demand on the international military equipment market.
