They tried to bring explosives in Orthodox icons into Russia

In the Pskov region, at the Ubylinka checkpoint, FSB and customs officers stopped an attempt to smuggle improvised explosive devices from Ukraine to Russia. In a car that followed a route through a number of European countries, 27 explosive devices were found in boxes with Orthodox icons and church utensils, as well as 70 kilograms of explosives, 91 electric detonators and parts for an RPG-7.

One person was detained, allegedly involved in organizing smuggling, against whom a criminal case was opened under the article on the illegal movement of explosives and explosive devices across the border by a group of persons by prior conspiracy. According to intelligence services, all accomplices, including citizens of other states, will be put on the wanted list and prosecuted in accordance with Russian legislation.
