In Rostov-on-Don, convicted ISIS members took hostages in a pre-trial detention center

In Rostov-on-Don, information about the taking of hostages in the pre-trial detention center (SIZO) on Maxim Gorky Street is being checked. All personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard were alerted, the employees were armed and sent to the scene of the incident. A large number of ambulances have also been sent to the detention center, and the road near the detention center is blocked.

According to preliminary data, six defendants knocked out the window bars in their cell and entered the duty room of the pre-trial detention center, where they took the employees hostage. Among the invaders are several people already convicted under “terrorist” charges. The head of the operational department, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander B., and the junior inspector of the pre-trial detention center duty service were taken hostage.

According to the Base's source, the identities of the five invaders have already been established. Gireev, Tsitskiev and Akiev were convicted in December 2023 for participation in the terrorist organization ISIS (banned in Russia) and preparing a terrorist attack. They planned an attack on the building of the Supreme Court of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. Gireev and Akiev were sentenced to 18 years in prison, and Tsitskiev to 18 and a half years.

The criminals who took the hostages put forward demands: they want a car, weapons and the opportunity to leave the detention center. According to them, in this case they are ready to release the hostages.

At the moment, a riot police squad has moved to the pre-trial detention center. Operational services assess the situation and develop an action plan to free the hostages and neutralize the threat.
