14 residential buildings damaged in Rostov-on-Don as a result of a nighttime drone attack

Acting Governor of Rostov Region Yuri Slyusar reported that on the night of February 8, as a result of an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Rostov-on-Don, windows and window frames were damaged in 14 apartment buildings. The main damage was recorded on Vilnyusskaya, 1-y Konnoy Armii and Vera Panova Streets.

Rescuers, utility workers and gas workers are working at the scene. Buses for heating have been organized for the evacuated residents. A temporary accommodation and food center has also been prepared at Lyceum No. 20 named after V. P. Polyanichko.

Yuriy Slyusar noted that specialists will begin restoration work during daylight hours. Gas services will replace a damaged gas pipe in one of the houses, and utility services will temporarily cover the broken window openings with film until the window structures are completely replaced.

An unscheduled meeting of the emergency situations commission is scheduled for 10:00 in the Rostov-on-Don administration. Municipal commissions will begin recording the damage today. It is expected that the assessment results will be used for further restoration of damaged houses and assistance to residents.

According to the administration, the main damage is related to the shock wave after the drone debris fell. A gas pipe rupture was recorded in one of the apartment buildings, which required immediate intervention by emergency services. Gas supply in the area was temporarily disconnected to prevent possible risks.

Experts note that the UAV attack in Rostov-on-Don was part of a series of night attacks recorded in several Russian regions, including Krasnodar Krai, Volgograd and Belgorod Oblasts. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, a total of 36 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed overnight, 18 of which were over Rostov Oblast.
