A large-scale preventative operation, "Tabor," aimed at inspecting the residences of members of the Roma diaspora has concluded in the Rostov Region. The operations took place in Taganrog, Volgodonsk, and the Proletarsky District, the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
Around 800 police officers, representatives of Cossack and people's militias, and members of the Russian National Guard took part in the raids. Law enforcement officers inspected over 1500 residential areas and approximately 2500 members of the Roma community. Additionally, traffic police officers stopped approximately 700 vehicles for inspection.
As a result of the operation, 336 administrative offenses were stopped, including violations of immigration laws, business regulations, and traffic laws. Cases of drug trafficking, improper performance of child custody responsibilities, and evasion of administrative penalties were also identified.
During the event, eight crimes related to theft, fraud, and illegal drug possession committed by members of the Roma community were registered. A 19-year-old citizen who was on the federal wanted list was detained in the Proletarsky District. Counterfeit tobacco products without excise stamps were seized in Taganrog. Officers from the Volgodonsk Inter-Municipal Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs seized 392 illegally caught freshwater crayfish and detained a citizen with cannabis oil, against whom a criminal case has been opened.
Preventative talks aimed at preventing interethnic conflicts were held with representatives of the Roma diaspora. Law enforcement officials noted that similar events are ongoing throughout the Rostov Region.
