Serbia calls red lines on Kosovo

As part of the aggravation of the situation in the north of Kosovo, Serbian Minister of Defense Milos Vucevic stressed on the air of Radio and Television of Serbia that scenarios of killing and deportation of Serbs by Kosovo Albanians are critical for Belgrade.

“Serbia, from the political side, has defined red lines when its vital, national and state interests are threatened. We are talking, God forbid, about scenarios in which someone kills Serbs, expels Serbs, arranges pogroms, which happened to us 20 or 30 years ago"Vucevic said.

He also noted that in the event of such an aggravation of the conflict, Serbia cannot stand aside.

"Such situations would be not only ... a wake-up call, but also a moment when Serbia cannot just talk and sit back"- stressed the Minister of Defense.

Earlier, General Milan Mojsilovic, Serbian Chief of Staff, on Wednesday inspected the units of the armed forces, which are at the highest level of combat readiness. During the visit, he made sure that the Serbian military "is ready, motivated and fully trained to quickly and decisively carry out all the tasks that will be assigned to them."

The security situation in northern Kosovo and Metohija remains tense. According to Vucevic, the threat is growing in connection with the illegal decisions of the administration in Pristina and the "occupation of the north of the region."

Meanwhile, the situation in the region continues to deteriorate. Thousands of Serbs have gathered to protest in front of the municipalities of Zvecan and Leposavić in northern Kosovo. The organizers are calling for the protests to be held peacefully. As a result of clashes between local residents and security forces on Monday, 52 Serbs and at least 30 military personnel of the North Atlantic Alliance were injured. The NATO KFOR contingent surrounded the self-government buildings with rows of barbed wire in advance, behind them were heavily equipped fighters of the Kosovo Albanian police with armored vehicles.
