The newest radar 48Ya6-K1 "Podlet-K1" of the S-400 and S-300 air defense systems was captured in Syria

In Syria, the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, banned in Russia – editor’s note) captured a modern 48Ya6-K1 Podlet-K1 radar station, which is used to control the S-400 and S-300PMU-2 anti-aircraft missile systems. The militants themselves reported this, publishing a corresponding photograph.

The 48Ya6-K1 station, being part of the high-tech S-300 and S-400 systems, is designed to provide reliable protection of airspace, including from strategic and tactical air threats, including ballistic missiles.

Experts note that this radar is not only an important element for Russia, but also for its allies in the context of expanding the airspace control zone. Against the backdrop of this incident, it becomes obvious that such a complex of technologies in the hands of terrorists can affect the balance of power in the region, given that the station can be transferred to Russian opponents, including Ukraine, the United States, etc.

It is still unclear how the terrorists were able to obtain such a high-tech system, but it is clear that it will now become a subject of militant propaganda.
