The Syrian city of Tartus, where the Russian Navy base is located, is relatively calm, but local residents note tension and instability in the changed political situation. According to him, the city avoids active hostilities, but the socio-economic situation remains difficult.

The source said that a curfew has been imposed in Tartus from 18:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The shops and markets are practically empty, food and essential items are in short supply. Electricity is supplied extremely rarely - once every 10 hours for only 30 minutes. Bread queues have become a common occurrence, and the general atmosphere on the streets retains a sense of anxiety.

Machine gun fire can be heard in the city, although there has been no direct fighting. According to the source, this is due to the fact that supporters of the ousted regime of Bashar al-Assad are trying to get rid of weapons, fearing persecution. However, no significant clashes have been recorded yet.

A local resident noted that there are about 400 women from Russia who married Syrians living in Tartus. Despite the change of power, most of them remain in the city.

The interlocutor also commented on the actions of the new opposition administration, which cancelled the orders of the previous government and released prisoners. Although representatives of the new government promise not to interfere in the personal lives of citizens, including women, and not to create religious conflicts, local residents are wary of these assurances.
