Sochi denies reports of mine on beach

Sochi authorities have denied the authenticity of a video that allegedly shows a sea mine found on one of the resort's beaches. The video was published on September 8 in a number of Russian media and Telegram channels, causing concern among residents and tourists. However, as city administration officials said, this information has not been confirmed.

Local services, including the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs, also denied the information about the alleged mine. The agencies reported that no complaints had been received regarding this and no dangerous objects had been found on Sochi beaches. Experts who examined the video said that the terrain in the footage did not match the actual geography of the Sochi coast.

The video itself shows several men pulling what appears to be a sea mine onto the shore. The video quickly went viral on social media, sparking speculation. Some users suggested it could be a dummy used in a movie, or an old model used for diving training at local clubs before the 2014 Olympics.
