Florida Republican Senator Rick Scott warned Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro of an impending overthrow, advising him to prepare to flee to Russia or China because "his days are numbered."

In a statement posted on social media, Scott accused Maduro of supporting drug trafficking and human rights abuses, citing recent US actions against Venezuelan cartels.

Scott's remarks followed Maduro's accusations that the CIA is plotting a coup and Donald Trump's statements about possible strikes on ground targets in Venezuela.

Experts believe the US may launch an invasion of Venezuela or conduct a special operation against Maduro in the coming days.
