Fighter F-35C crashed in the southern United States.
A fifth-generation combat aircraft crashed in the US state of Utah during a training flight. The pilot managed to leave the combat aircraft a few minutes before the latter crashed into the ground and exploded.
According to preliminary data, the fault was the failure of the engine during the landing of the aircraft.
“According to the 388th Fighter Wing, the pilot ejected safely after the crash of an F-35 combat aircraft at Hill Air Force Base south of Ogden, Utah. The F-35 Lightning II crashed at around 18:15 p.m. local time on the north side of the base's runway, the air wing reported on social media. "The pilot ejected, is healthy and has been taken to the local medical center for observation," Hill AFB said in a statement. There were no other details about the pilot's condition. Local resident Scott Phillips told CNN he saw the plane crash. “I was at my house… mowing the lawn and watching the F-35 come in to land, which is what they do almost every night. They usually land in the south, as they do today. When approaching the air base, one of them lost power and sank too low under the trees. The next thing I saw was fire,” said a local resident. It is the second largest air force base in terms of population and size.", reports CNN.
At the moment, an investigation is underway into the incident, however, it is obvious that the numerous flaws in the fifth-generation American fighter, as previously reported, were to blame.
