Washington, June 5 — Avia.pro. A massive fire broke out on board the American nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford. Emergency crews and technical personnel, working with port emergency services, conducted an operation to contain and completely extinguish the blaze, which originated in the aircraft carrier's interior.

The incident resulted in material damage to technical components and individual compartments of the US Navy flagship. According to preliminary expert reports, the fire originated in one of the technical sections, necessitating the temporary evacuation of some of the crew and the use of fixed fire suppression systems. A special Pentagon commission is working at the scene.
