Thailand News, December 10, 2025, Avia.pro. Authorities in Surin Province in northeastern Thailand have issued an urgent warning to residents of Phanom Dong Rak district, urging them to immediately evacuate to safe areas due to the threat of a massive drone strike from Cambodia.
"Cambodia will deploy over 600 suicide drones this evening. Residents of Phanom Dong Rak, move to a safe location immediately." — the Surin Provincial Council said in a warning.
It comes amid escalating border clashes between the two countries, which have resumed after a US-brokered ceasefire collapsed in October.
The Thai army accuses Cambodian forces of using multiple rocket launchers, bomb-throwing drones, and self-destruct drones to attack military positions and civilian targets in the provinces of Surin, Buriram, Sa Kaeo, and Trat. According to Thailand's Second Army Region, BM-21 rockets and drones struck the districts of Ta Khuai and Ta Muen in Phanom Dong Rak, as well as Chong An Ma and Hill 561 in neighboring Ubon Ratchathani Province. Three Thai soldiers were killed in the fighting, including one from shrapnel in Surin and another from a grenade launcher near Prahvihean Temple.
More than 125 residents of four border provinces of Thailand have been housed in 492 temporary shelters. Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul emphasized that the army will continue operations to protect sovereignty, but rejected accusations of provocation.
